So Retro-Chic!

**This post was inspired by Sunday's episode of the ABC hit, Pan Am, which follows the days in the lives of the classic airline's stewardesses !!..I absolutely love the styles of the 60s and would do anything to own a retro Pan Am bag!!**

There has never been a time that I can remember where I have made reference to a style or trend and was not reminded that such a style or trend started its roots years before and that fashion merely repeats itself over time.

In a moment of self-reflection, I thought about it and came to the realization that all of the fashions that I love today were just as fierce twenty, thirty years ago. The fashions of our grandparents’ time, evolved into the styles of our parents’ time which later developed into what we wear today; oh, the beautiful Circle of Fashion!! 

With the rules of fashion as flexible as an Olympic gymnast, there are many styles and accessories that have the ability to resurface and turn heads, like the glory days of the past! Being a fashionista isn’t always about breaking the bank so know that one of the best places to get vintage apparel is the thrift store! You’d be surprised how many hidden treasures you can find through those aisles; the possibilities are never-ending!

Take a look at some of the latest trends and styles that have and are soon to be making a comeback very soon!

• Cat Eye Sunglasses--

• More than just a funky pair of shades, these feline-inspired specs go all the way back to the 1950s but have been showing face during Spring/Summer 2011.

• Dresses----

• Hail the glorious maxi dress!! Not a day has gone by over the last few summers where we have not donned at least one bohemian-chic, 70s-inspired maxi dress! The quid essential summertime ensemble!

• High-waist Pants----

• The 70s clearly was a great decade of fashion because it gave birth to the wide-leg and high-waist pant! Once being considered “uncool” for wearing your pants above the waist now is a sign that one is stylish and fashion-forward!

• Handbags---

• This is the season of the sling backs, boxy bags and floral sacks! The type of bag you wear says just as much about your sense of fashion than the clothes on your back so why not make a statement with this vintage classic!

Though there are more, these were just a few pieces I wanted to highlight that have resurfaced from the fashion vault. Fashion is constantly evolving and constantly reinventing itself so remember, the next time you decide to clean your closet, stop and think about what you’re getting rid of; it may be renewed treasure before you know it!
